To create a WhatsApp template (message template) in ConverZap, open “Templates” in the menu, click the “Criar template” (Create template) tab, fill in the name, language, category, body and, optionally, the header, footer and buttons, then click “Submeter template à Meta” (Submit template to Meta). The template goes to Meta for review and appears in the list as “Em análise” (In review) until Meta decides. Only approved templates can be used in bulk messaging campaigns and to start a conversation outside the 24-hour window. Meta sets the review time, and it may vary.
WhatsApp template categories
- Marketing: promotions, news and offers. Meta applies a per-user frequency limit to this type of message.
- “Utilidade” (Utility): confirmations, reminders and order updates.
- “Autenticação” (Authentication): verification codes (OTP). Meta has specific rules for this type of template.
The category affects the price Meta charges. Meta charges per delivered message, based on the category and the recipient’s country (see Meta’s WhatsApp pricing page). To estimate costs in Brazil, use the WhatsApp API cost calculator (Brazil, in Portuguese).
How to create a WhatsApp template, step by step
- In the menu, click “Templates”. If more than one WhatsApp account is connected, choose the account in the selector at the top. The “Criar template” tab is shown to admins.
- In “Nome do template” (Template name), use only lowercase letters, numbers and underscores (e.g., welcome_booking). The name must be unique per account and language.
- Choose the “Idioma” (Language) and the “Categoria” (Category).
- In “Tipo de template” (Template type), choose “Padrão” (Standard) or “Carrossel” (Carousel).
- In “Cabeçalho (opcional)” (Header, optional), choose “Nenhum” (None), “Texto” (Text), “Imagem” (Image), “Vídeo” (Video) or “Documento” (Document).
- Write the “Corpo” (Body), up to 1,024 characters. Use variables such as {{1}} (positional) or {{name}} (named) and fill in a sample for each variable, which Meta uses in its review. Formatting supports *bold*, _italic_, ~strikethrough~ and “`monospace“`.
- Optionally, fill in the “Rodapé (opcional)” (Footer, optional), up to 60 characters and with no variables.
- In “Botões (opcional)” (Buttons, optional), click “+ Adicionar botão” (+ Add button).
- Check the “Prévia · WhatsApp” (Preview · WhatsApp) panel next to the form and click “Submeter template à Meta”.
Header media
With a media header, upload a sample file: a JPG or PNG image up to 5 MB, an MP4 video (H.264 with AAC audio) up to 16 MB, or a PDF document up to 16 MB. The file goes straight to Meta as the template sample. Meta rejects other formats. A text header accepts up to 60 characters and at most one variable.
Buttons
A standard template accepts up to 10 buttons, with button text up to 25 characters. The available types are “Resposta rápida” (Quick reply), “Link (URL)”, “Ligar (telefone)” (Call, phone), “Copiar código de oferta” (Copy offer code) and “Opt-out de marketing” (Marketing opt-out). The opt-out button creates the reply “Parar promoções” (Stop promotions): when the contact taps it, ConverZap marks the contact as opted out and they stop receiving bulk messages.
Carousel
With the “Carrossel” type, the body is the message shown above the cards. A carousel has 2 to 10 cards, all with the same media type (image or video) and the same number of buttons, with up to 2 buttons and 160 characters of text per card.
Approval and sync with Meta
The template list shows the status reported by Meta: “Em análise” (In review), “Aprovado” (Approved), “Rejeitado” (Rejected), “Em recurso” (Under appeal), “Pausado” (Paused) or “Desativado” (Disabled). When Meta approves or rejects a template, ConverZap updates the status automatically. The list is also synced periodically, and admins can click “Sincronizar com a Meta” (Sync with Meta) to immediately fetch templates created or edited directly in WhatsApp Manager.
To delete a template, use “Excluir na Meta” (Delete on Meta). Deletion works by name, so every language version with that name is deleted.
Tip: to reduce the chance of rejection, choose the category that matches the content, provide realistic samples for the variables and avoid misleading promises or content prohibited by Meta’s policies.
