WhatsApp coexistence platform: your number in the app and on the official API
Use the same number on your phone and on the official WhatsApp API. The WhatsApp Business app stays with you, and ConverZAP adds an AI agent, a team inbox, approved-template campaigns and a CRM to that same number.
- Same number: customers keep messaging the contact they already saved
- App on your phone: the WhatsApp Business app keeps working with you
- 24/7 AI agent and a team inbox for multiple agents
- Approved-template campaigns and a CRM on the same number
Hi! Do you have an opening for a keratin treatment on Saturday?
Hi! We have Saturday at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. The treatment takes about 3 hours. Which time works best?
9 a.m. How much is it for long hair?
For long hair, the salon's price list says $150. Shall I book Saturday at 9 a.m. under your name?
What is WhatsApp coexistence at ConverZAP?
WhatsApp coexistence is the Meta feature that connects a number already using the WhatsApp Business app to the official WhatsApp API without removing it from the phone. Since October 2026, ConverZAP has been a Tech Provider verified by Meta and makes this connection through Meta's Embedded Signup: the number stays in the app and also works in ConverZAP.
For the full picture of the feature (requirements, limits and costs), read the complete guide to WhatsApp coexistence.
Tech Provider verified by Meta
Coexistence can only be activated through a Solution Partner or a Tech Provider, using Meta's own Embedded Signup. ConverZAP has been a Tech Provider verified by Meta since October 2026.
- Business Verification completed with Meta.
- Access Verification completed: ConverZAP was verified as a Tech Provider.
- App approved in Meta's App Review on October 10, 2026, with advanced access to manage customers' WhatsApp accounts and send their WhatsApp messages.
- Coexistence turned on in the app on October 11, 2026: the “Number already using the WhatsApp Business app” button is on the connection card.
The WhatsApp Business account still belongs to your business, and Meta bills API messages directly to your account.
WhatsApp Business app only vs. app + ConverZAP (coexistence)
| Before | With ConverZAP |
|---|---|
| A message that arrives at night waits for someone to pick up the phone | The AI agent replies right away, using your business's knowledge base |
| One phone passed from hand to hand across the team | Several agents in the team inbox, each chat with an owner |
| Broadcast lists with the app's limits | Campaigns with Meta-approved templates, unsubscribe and reports |
| Contacts and deals tracked on paper or in a spreadsheet | A CRM with a Kanban pipeline linked to the chats |
| Moving to the API meant taking the number out of the app | The number stays in the app on the phone and works on the official API |
| Replies sent from the phone are only visible on that phone and its linked devices | Replies sent from the phone show up in the ConverZAP inbox as “Sent from phone” |
| Messages sent from the app are free | They stay free; only messages sent through the API follow Meta's rate card |
How it works
In the ConverZAP app, open Settings and then Integrations (if no number is connected yet, the same card also appears on WhatsApp Health). On the “Connect WhatsApp with Facebook” card, click “Number already using the WhatsApp Business app”. Meta's window opens: log in with the Facebook account that manages the business, then pick or create the business portfolio and the WhatsApp Business account.
Choose the option to connect the WhatsApp Business app and enter the number. Confirm on the phone whatever Meta asks for, a code or a QR code depending on the version of the flow; in the app, Meta also asks whether you want to share your chat history. Click Finish and only close the window after that. The card has a Step by step section with the requirements and a “Need help connecting? Talk to us on WhatsApp” shortcut. The detailed walkthrough is in the coexistence setup guide.
Features
An AI agent on your number
Answers 24/7
People who write after hours get an answer right away.
The agent replies on the coexistence number using the FAQ, products and policies you added.
Answers from your knowledge base
No made-up prices or deadlines.
You upload documents and add products and rules. The agent checks that base before replying, and you test everything in the simulator before turning it on.
Hands off to a person
Sensitive cases reach the team with context.
The agent hands off when the customer asks, when it doesn't know the answer or on a keyword, with a reason and a summary in the chat.
Your team on the same number
Shared team inbox
The team works in the browser instead of fighting over one phone.
The number's chats arrive in the ConverZAP inbox, with an owner, history and internal notes.
Phone replies show up too
You can keep answering from the phone without losing track.
Messages you send from the WhatsApp Business app appear in the ConverZAP inbox as “Sent from phone”, and with the default setting the AI agent pauses in that chat so it doesn't reply over you.
Take over from the agent
A person steps in without clashing with the AI.
In the team inbox, the “Take over from agent” button pauses the AI in that chat. Automatic assignment can also route unowned chats to available agents.
Campaigns and follow-up
Approved templates
Campaigns and reminders within Meta's rules.
Create the template, submit it for approval and use it in campaigns with variables and buttons. Templates can't be sent from the app, only through the API.
Automatic unsubscribe
People who opt out stop receiving messages.
Replies such as “STOP” or the unsubscribe button remove the contact from upcoming campaigns and automations.
Follow-up that stops on its own
Stalled leads get a nudge at the right pace.
The sequence sends approved templates at the times you set and stops when the customer replies.
A CRM linked to the chats
Kanban pipeline
Every deal in the right stage.
The deal is linked to the contact and the chat. Your team or the AI agent moves the stage.
Contacts and tags
An organized base for service and campaigns.
Everyone who writes becomes a contact. Tags, fields and segments define who gets each campaign.
Recent history comes along
Context from the app isn't lost on day one.
Contacts and up to 6 months of one-to-one chats can be imported in the first 24 hours, if you choose to share the history in the app. ConverZAP sends the request right after the connection.
Sample conversation (fictional)
A hair salon that already served customers through the WhatsApp Business app connected the same number to ConverZAP through coexistence, with an AI agent and two front-desk staff.
CustomerHi! Do you have an opening for a keratin treatment on Saturday?1
AI agentHi! We have Saturday at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. The treatment takes about 3 hours. Which time works best?
Customer9 a.m. How much is it for long hair?
AI agentFor long hair, the salon's price list says $150. Shall I book Saturday at 9 a.m. under your name?2
CustomerYes, please. Can I pay part now and the rest later?
AI agentI'll bring in the front desk to confirm payment options with you.
System🤖 Handed off to the team. Reason: payment. Summary: keratin treatment, long hair, Saturday 9 a.m.3
Team memberHi, this is Bea! Yes, a deposit now and the rest on the day works. You're booked for Saturday at 9 a.m.
SystemDeal moved to “Booked”. Reminder with an approved template scheduled for the day before.4
- 1The customer wrote to the same number as always: with coexistence, it stays in the WhatsApp Business app on the phone and works in ConverZAP.
- 2The agent answered with the price list from the knowledge base, without making up a price.
- 3Payment is a job for the team: the AI handed off with a reason and a summary.
- 4The reminder goes out through the API with an approved template; templates can't be sent from the app.
Requirements to connect through coexistence
Up-to-date WhatsApp Business app
Version 2.24.17 or later, with the number active in the app. Regular WhatsApp (not Business) won't work: move the number to the WhatsApp Business app before you start.
A Facebook account that manages the business
In Meta's window, you pick or create the business portfolio and the WhatsApp Business account. The account belongs to your business.
Number free of other APIs
If the number is already on the API through another platform, disconnect it there first (in the app: Settings > Account > Business Platform) and wait 15 minutes.
Your phone at hand
Meta asks for a confirmation in the app on the phone, with a code or a QR code depending on the version of the flow.
A payment method on Meta
To send templates through the API, add your business's payment method in WhatsApp Manager. Meta bills your account directly.
Help on the card itself
The connection card includes the step by step and a “Talk to us on WhatsApp” shortcut with a ready-made message, including when an error shows up.
What changes in the app after you connect (Meta's rules)
WhatsApp Web reconnects
During activation, WhatsApp Web and linked devices are logged out. Just link them again. Up to 4 linked devices are supported, except WhatsApp for Windows and Wear OS.
Groups and calls stay in the app
Groups, voice and video calls, status, catalog and quick replies keep working in the app but don't go through the API. See what happens to groups and broadcast lists.
Broadcast lists
They become read-only. Messages to many contacts move to the API, with approved templates.
Features turned off in one-to-one chats
Disappearing messages, view once and live location are turned off in one-to-one chats.
Open the app every ~14 days
If the primary phone is inactive for about 14 days, Meta disconnects the number from the API. Using the app normally prevents this.
Costs and throughput
Messages sent from the app stay free. Messages sent through the API follow Meta's official pricing (see WhatsApp coexistence pricing). A coexistence number sends up to 20 messages per second.
For businesses that already sell through the app
Salons and barbershops
The number clients already saved stays the same. The agent answers services and prices and lines up the booking, while the owner keeps the app on the phone.
Clinics
The front desk works from the team inbox on the computer, with chats assigned to whoever is available. Appointment reminders go out as approved templates on the same number.
Retail and e-commerce
The number printed on social profiles and packaging doesn't change. The agent recommends products from the base and sends the checkout link; returns go to the team.
Real estate
The agent keeps the app on the phone, while the AI qualifies the lead (buy or rent, area, budget) and hands off the showing with a summary.
Solo sellers and small businesses
Anyone who sells through their own WhatsApp Business number gets an agent that replies while they're with another customer, without changing numbers.
Moving off an unofficial API
Businesses that want to leave unauthorized tools can take the number to the official API and keep the app. Learn more

It's a fit if…
- You already serve customers through the WhatsApp Business app and don't want to change numbers
- You need replies after hours without giving up the phone
- Your team currently shares a single phone
- You want to send reminders and campaigns with approved templates from the number people know
Maybe not yet if…
- The number is on regular WhatsApp and won't move to the WhatsApp Business app
- You need groups or calls inside the platform: under coexistence, they stay in the app only
- Your operation needs more than 20 messages per second on one number
Which plans include it
Coexistence is included in every plan: Essential (1 number, 1 AI agent, up to 3 users), Sales (up to 3 numbers, 3 agents, 10 users) and Complete (up to 5 numbers, unlimited agents, 20 users). Plans start at R$ 197 per month (prices in Brazilian reais). The 7-day free trial already lets you connect your own number, with no card needed to start. Fees for messages sent through the API are paid separately, directly to Meta.
Compare plansWhatsApp coexistence FAQ
It is the connection of a number that already uses the WhatsApp Business app to the official WhatsApp API, without removing it from the phone. ConverZAP makes this connection through Meta’s Embedded Signup. The number stays in the app and also works in ConverZAP, with an AI agent, a team inbox, campaigns and a CRM.
Yes. Since October 2026, ConverZAP has been a Tech Provider verified by Meta: it completed Business Verification and Access Verification, and its app passed Meta’s App Review on October 10, 2026. That is why ConverZAP can connect numbers through coexistence.
No. The number keeps working in the WhatsApp Business app on the phone. What changes: WhatsApp Web and linked devices are logged out during activation (just link them again), broadcast lists become read-only, and disappearing messages, view once and live location are turned off in one-to-one chats.
Yes. Messages you send from the WhatsApp Business app appear in the ConverZAP inbox as “Sent from phone”, and with the default setting the AI agent pauses in that chat so it doesn’t reply over you. Contacts and up to 6 months of one-to-one chats can also be imported in the first 24 hours after connecting, if you choose to share the history in the app.
No. Coexistence only works with the WhatsApp Business app, version 2.24.17 or later. If the number is on regular WhatsApp, move it to the WhatsApp Business app first. Another option is to delete the account on the phone and connect it as a new number.
ConverZAP charges for the plan, starting at R$ 197 per month (prices in Brazilian reais, see pricing). Messages sent from the app stay free. Messages sent through the API follow Meta’s official pricing, per delivered message, by category and recipient country, and are paid directly to Meta. See the details in WhatsApp coexistence pricing.
Yes, but only in the app on the phone. Under coexistence, groups and voice and video calls don’t go through the API, so they don’t appear in ConverZAP.
Three things: link WhatsApp Web again, if you use it; add your business’s payment method in WhatsApp Manager to send templates; and open the app on the phone at least every 14 days or so, because Meta disconnects the number from the API when the primary phone is inactive for that long.
Yes. Disconnect the current platform in the app (Settings > Account > Business Platform), wait 15 minutes and connect through ConverZAP. Meta doesn’t allow moving a number directly from one coexistence partner to another. See the common WhatsApp coexistence errors.
Meta’s current documentation no longer lists unsupported countries, but it still has an error for numbers from regions where the feature is unavailable (3441042). Meta may also ask for more activity in the WhatsApp Business app before a number becomes eligible (3441045). The setup guide lists the most common errors and what to do.
Yes. The 7-day free trial already includes connecting WhatsApp, including through coexistence, and no card is needed to start. You build the AI agent, test it in the simulator and turn it on for your number.
Coexistence is for businesses that want to keep the app on the phone. A new, API-only number is for those who don’t need the app and want higher throughput. Compare both in WhatsApp coexistence vs Cloud API.
